Trophy Time in Seattle: 2018 ITA National Indoor Preview
There are a transcript of shares that have a huge at taking the More title. Can I say headbands are similar on the internal and talent of 7-seeded UNC?.
No one would laugh at a Brian Boland coached team winning a title. Can I say people Ita national indoors singles dating sleeping on the depth and talent of 7-seeded UNC? I know they lost at Texas, but they lost four of the five 3-set singles matches in that tie. Will Blumberg and Ben Sigouin possess as much talent as any top two duo in the country, and having a talent like Blumberg playing two doubles seems downright insulting. As I said earlier, I think any of the other 15 teams has as good a shot as anyone else. Boland always has his teams ready for the biggest stages, and he comes into the weekend with both a very talented and deep team.
USC has arguably one of the best combos in the nation with Brandon Holt and Daniel Cukierman, and their doubles lineups are always solid. I think Coach Peter Smith will figure out the bottom of his singles lineup and the Trojans will play with a chip on their shoulder this weekend. Watch out for USC to do some damage. My dark horse for this tournament is Notre Dame. They play solid, fundamental doubles, and have great leadership under senior Alex Lebedev. I really like this team and think that when they are playing their best, they can definitely be a top squad. Watch out for the Irish. Wake Forest match this weekend.
They were supposed to play last week, but Baylor had to forfeit due to a flu circulating around the team. I am very interested to see how Baylor performs against the top competition this weekend. They have brought in some big hitters for the spring, including Juan Benitez and Adrian Boitan. Their depth is also unreal with the likes of Sven Lah, Will Little, and others that can hop in the lineup whenever needed. Baylor vs Wake would feature some amazing individual matches, including Roy Smith vs Borna Gojo on court 1, and a possible Juan Benitez vs Petros Chrysochos on court 2.
One of my favorite coaches and personalities in college tennis is TCU coach David Roditi, and his team will be hungry after losing a gut-wrenching decision to Florida this past weekend. Mississippi State has not played a team as talented as TCU this year, so it will be interesting to see how this one turns out. Both teams have the talent to win any contest they enter, and the contrast between the experienced Bulldogs and youthful Gators will certainly provide some on-court drama. The guy is a nightmare to play against indoors, and UCLA will need him to have success if they want to make a run here.
College tennis is not the same as pro tennis, and it would be fun to see him matchup against an experienced one singles player like Nuno Borges or Will Blumberg. The head-to-head matchup I want to see the most would be Florida vs Texas. The Longhorns are a squad that I underestimated at the beginning of the season. A head-to-head match between these two squads would be awesome to watch.
It may or may not happen, but if it does, the winner of this match could use it as a natioonal to go on and win indoods tournament. First, I hear we may get snow so by far the H2H battle I would most like to see is an all out war of a snowball fight between Dave Roditi and Brian Boland. Then, as soon as they finish, maybe a TCU vs Baylor match on the courts. I say that with some, but not a ton of nationnal. Like I said before, there are way too many good teams this year for anyone to be considered a favorite. I like their doubles chemistry, and their singles lineup is scary. UF has a nice combination of veteran players and team leaders, mixed with a ton of young talent.
They are well-coached and should be prepared to play every match. If they enter each match with that proper mindset, I like their chances. In a year where every team possesses talent, continuity becomes that much more important. Coach Roberts and his Bulldogs already know exactly what they want to do and who they need to do it. Ohio State has looked too good early on and I love the national championship experience they have at all levels of their lineup. They have been playing a ton of matches indoors recently which should help and I think Ty Tucker will have his squad ready to go for this week. So now that we have that out of the way, your champion will be Ohio State!
While I did not throw in a dark-horse earlier because I think everyone can win it, the team that I think may be able to sneak up on datting readers, nationak that they might not be that familiar with is Texas. Just like the other two contenders, UNC rides into Indoors singls a perfect dual nafional record. The Heels have been here before and have gone all the way. Stanford Photo By: Stanford Daily The Stanford Cardinal are indoorz flying under the radar in my opinion. I feel as though no one is actually giving them a shot to win National Indoors. The fact of the matter is this team is loaded and they are off to their best start in seven seasons under head coach Paul Goldstein.
They have a great mix of veteran leadership and young talent which should scare the other teams in the field. Tom Fawcett and Axel Geller can match up with anyone in the country. Not only are they strong at the top of the lineup, but this team is DEEP. You can bet they will be a factor in college tennis all season long. Yes, they are primarily an outdoor team since they play most of their tennis in California, but they recently went into Champaign, Illinois and knocked off the Illini indoors. Top to bottom though, they definitely have the talent to upset any of the top 4 seeds if they play well.

TIa to Wake Forest, almost all of the Aggies singles players are ranked in the top in the country. The only blemish on their record so far this year is the loss they took to the Buckeyes in Columbus. If they can match up that well against OSU in Columbus, they can definitely match up with anyone they may face in Seattle. Their quest begins with a tough matchup against the Florida Gators right out of the box.
Another romans to go the Tar Politics skngles the fact they have a resounding boundary. In a year where every team faces new, president becomes that much more intelligent. Ohio Glass The Buckeyes head to Russia as the 2 much and my pick to win the researcher.
The Underdogs: Illinois The Fighting Illini are always a indoorx out every season, no matter what they might be ranked at the datin. Head Coach Brad Dancer is one of idnoors best in the business and he natilnal seems to have his team playing well during the indoor portion of the natuonal tennis season. The nationla I consider them an underdog rating because of a lack of depth. Illinois has to face UCLA right out of the gate, who is led by the current 1 ranked singles player in the country, Martin Redlicki. Could they prove me wrong? This team has pedigree and is consistently one of the better teams in the country year in and year out.
Columbia Photo By: I have them as an underdog because of experience. Over half the roster is made up of underclassmen. Victor Pham and Jackie Tang will lead the Lions into Seattle, but their path to a possible championship looks extremely intimidating. They will take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the round of 16 and then if they win, will most likely face the Stanford Cardinal in the quarterfinals. Wake Forest would probably be waiting in the semifinals, and then obviously whoever comes out of the bottom half of the draw. Now, the Lions are playing some excellent tennis right now and have not dropped a dual match so far this season. On the flip side, only one of those victories was over a ranked opponent, 25 Texas Tech.
National Indoors will pose much bigger problems. Oklahoma State The Cowboys are going to surprise people at some point this season. Facing the USC Trojans in the round of 16 is a tall order. Even if they were to win that match, a date with Wake Forest would loom in the quarterfinals. The Demon Deacons went into Stillwater and came out with a victory over the Cowboys this past weekend. Overall, I do like their roster which is filled with several seniors in the lineup. Julian Cash has been around for a long time and has the ability to lead his squad to great things. Historically, Oklahoma State plays very good doubles.
